About Your Instructor: Dr. Martin Spoelstra
Dr. Martin Spoelstra is a church planter, pastor, and leadership coach who has spent over 20 years helping churches move from maintenance to mission. After planting Discovery Church east of Toronto and guiding it through significant seasons of growth, multiplication, and community impact, Martin has dedicated his ministry to equipping leaders to launch new expressions of Kingdom mission within established churches.
Martin serves with Resonate Global Mission, walking alongside leaders across Eastern Canada who are rediscovering disciple-making, forming mission-shaped communities, and exploring fresh ministry starts. He holds a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership, a Master of Arts in Education, and brings a lifelong passion for developing others through practical teaching, spiritual discernment, and action-based learning.
Martin designed this course to be simple, repeatable, and deeply anchored in Scripture. He believes every church — large or small, urban or rural, new or historic — can cultivate a culture where ordinary believers take Spirit-led risks, form new ministry initiatives, and help others encounter Jesus.
He lives these principles daily as a pastor, denominational leader, mentor, and church-planting advocate — cheering on leaders who are bold enough to start something new for the sake of the Kingdom.
